In partnership with DJ Charlie Chase and Park Jam Series we are kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with a tribute festival to Spanish Harlem & Hispanic owned vendors & businesses in Hernando County.

La Marqueta is a marketplace under the elevated Metro North railway tracks between 111th Street and 116th Street on Park Avenue in East Harlem in Manhattan, New York City.

At its height, over 500 vendors operated out of La Marqueta. It was once possible to buy food, traditional medicines, Latin Music recordings, supplies & more. The area became home to Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, & Mexican immigrants, transforming East Harlem into the vibrant Spanish Harlem, or El Barrio. Making this area one of the largest Latin communities in Manhattan.

The event, La Marqueta was organized to support and promote Hispanic owned businesses in our communities of Hernando County. Our mission is to bring awareness, understanding, and appreciation of our contribution to the continual growth of Hernando County through an event aimed at celebrating culture and diversity in an inclusive environment.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be used to support the Hernando Hispanic Heritage organization.
