鉛足 lead foot driver classes

This level is for top-tier drivers known for their unmatched skill, signature style, and legendary status in the drifting community.

Drivers who have proven themselves not only to have control of the car, but also to have control of their car when multiple cars are on the track at the same time. This is the only class permitted to have a single passenger.

Select Sensei (class A) drivers will be permitted to tandem in uncaged cars on the skidpad only. Uncaged cars are NOT allowed to take passengers for insurance purposes.

Meaning “highly skilled,” this level signifies advanced drivers who exhibit high precision, technical skill, and artistic style in their drifts.

Drivers who have complete control of their car, drive the recommended line consistently, and very rarely make mistakes or spin. Also newly caged or caged drivers from other areas we need to evaluate for A class. (Paired Tandems only).

Meaning “middle,” this level is for drivers who have a solid grasp of drifting techniques and are starting to experiment with tandem drifting.

Drivers who have proven themselves to have control of the car, drivers who can make mostly solid runs (spinning out on occasion).

Translating to “start” or “beginning,” this level represents drivers learning the fundamentals of drifting, such as throttle control and initiating slides.

Drivers who have just started drifting and need practice and instructional ride-alongside. Instructional ride-alongside are provided only by A class drivers that have been approved by Lead Foot City.

Drivers new to Lead Foot City: If it's your first visit to LFC and you have a cage, we will put you in Takumi or Chūkan class for a run group unless prior approval is obtained by a track official of Lead Foot City. Track officials reserve the right to move a driver up or down in class as needed.

tech inspection

Your vehicle is required to come to tech and pass tech inspection before entering the racing surface. Come early to get through tech quickly and onto the track. As a Member of the Lead Foot City Club, you will not need to sign any waivers, simply display your digital membership card.

SAFETY requirements: must have in order to drive

Helmets

SA2010 or newer full faced helmet required. Open face helmets are ONLY allowed with 4-point harnesses, and NOT allowed with stock belts. **DOT motorcycle helmets will NOT pass.**

pants

Long pants, closed toe shoes and shirts required. No nylon or polyester pants are permitted.

fire extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are mandatory for all cars. They must be securely mounted in a “quick release mount”, within reach of the driver while buckled in.

fuel cell/tank

If you have fuel cell instead of a stock tank, it must be top port (no bottom sump drag style cells), and it must be completely separated from the passenger compartment of the car by a sealed metal firewall. THIS IS NON NEGOTIABLE. NO FIREWALL, NO TECH PASS.

wheels/brakes/sus.

Brakes must work and have adequate pedal pressure - you must have ALL LUG NUTS AND LUG STUDS! No excessive steering wheel/suspension play -welded/LSD/locking diff is HIGHLY recommended Functioning handbrake HIGHLY recommended.

body/glass

Windshields must be free of any cracks interfering with the drivers view. Small cracks are up to the discretion of the Tech official, but the general rule is if it touches your window frame in two places, it will NOT pass tech. Hood and trunk must be securely latched with OEM latches or pins.

seats/harness/int.

A good rule of thumb is stock belts with stock seats, and aftermarket harnesses with aftermarket seats. Seats are highly recommended to be securely mounted with grade 8 bolts. If harnesses are installed, a harness bar must be installed. Harnesses MAY NOT be bolted directly to the floor. A strut tower bar is NOT a harness bar. Lap AND Shoulder belts MUST be used. Seat belts/Harnesses must be used at all times.

ALL LOOSE ITEMS MUST BE REMOVED FROM CAR. If it is not bolted down, it needs to be removed from your car before driving.

roll cage

All roll cages will be thoroughly inspected. All Convertibles must have a 4-point Roll Bar. Minimum 6 point roll cage with harness and door bars is required for tandem drift. Roll cage must have X or double horizontal bars on both front doors for tandem. Most bolt in roll cages (basic Cusco, godspeed, etc) are NOT allowed for tandem driving. The ONLY exceptions are Safety 21 or Autopower, if installed correctly, and modified for double door bars. If door bars are removable and not fully welded in, they must be slip joint style, not flanged. Bolt in cages must be double plated at all chassis mounting points, and use proper grade 8 or above rated hardware. All roll cages will be thoroughly inspected, especially bolts.

engine

No fluid leaks. If your engine has extensive/catastrophic damage, you will not be allowed on track. If the engine damage occurs during the event, you will be asked to stop driving. Coolant overflow tank is mandatory. Oil Catch can is mandatory *IF* you have modified your intake/PCV. A COMPLETELY stock engine with factory PCV/oil recovery system intact will be allowed to run as-is.

If your car is turbocharged and the exhaust exits the engine on the same side as the brake booster, you must have an adequate metal heat shield in place. No painted metal or license plates.

tow straps

Tow straps are HIGHLY recommended. Factory tow hooks are accepted, but tow straps will be much safer for towing your car.

wiring

All wiring should be insulated/covered/taped with NO COPPER SHOWING! Battery must be TIGHTLY SECURED! (no zip ties, ratchet straps, or bungees). Vehicle must have working headlights and taillights. Positive battery terminal must be covered. If the battery is in the passenger compartment or is relocated, it must be in a sealed battery box.
